Personal introduction

My name is Rita Roberson and I have a BA in Therapeutic Recreation and a Rehabilitation Technology Certificate from S.D.S.U.  I also have spastic Athetoid cerebral palsy and have been using and even creating Assistive Technology (AT) since I was a small child.

What is Assistive Technology?

For those who may not have heard the term Assistive Technology, Public Law 100-407 defines Assistive Technology as “any item, piece of equipment or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.”  Basically you can give the term Assistive Technology to almost anything that give people with disabilities the ability to do what they wish to.
